Large house fire in Walburg: former station building on flames!
In the early morning hours, Hessisch Lichtenau, more precisely in the Walburg district, came to a devastating apartment fire. At 3:07 a.m., the Kassel police received a call from a concerned resident who discovered the fire. When the fire brigade and the police arrived, the former station building was already burning, and despite immediate extinguishing measures, the building could ultimately only be saved to the foundations.
The emergency services were forced to demolish the building due to the acute risk of collapse. There were two separate residential units and a private workshop in the three -storey building. Fortunately, there were no people inside at the time of the fire, so that there was no injured person.
damage and investigation
The first estimates for the amount of the damage move in the lower seven -digit range. A more precise assessment will only be possible after the extensive investigation by the criminal police in Eschwege. There is currently no information on the cause of the fire and the investigation is intensively.
The fire brigade was supported by various units, including the voluntary fire brigades from Hessisch Lichtenau, Walburg, Fürstenhagen, Velmeden, Hopfelde and Reichenbach as well as the technical relief organization from Eschwege. Police chief commissioner Jörg Schott, who acted as a police leader from service, confirmed the dramatic situation and the quick reaction of the local emergency services.
The fire fighting was made more difficult by the severe structure of the old building, and the firefighters had to exercise special caution so as not to put themselves in danger. The incident caused a sensation in the region, and the investigators of the criminal police are now required to clarify the background of the fire.
Further information on the developments in this case is expected by the responsible authorities, and the residents were called to comment on the cause of the fire and their perception during the incident.
