Traditional house beer in Rotenburg closes after 70 years - a farewell!

A painful farewell for Rotenburg an der Fulda! After more than 70 years, the traditional furniture store beer closes its doors. Owner Friedhelm Bier, 81 years old, made this difficult decision after the tragic loss of his wife Susanne, who died in March 2024. She had managed business in the past 15 years and made it a distinctive place for residential culture.

"It is incredibly difficult for me to take this step," said Friedhelm Bier. The furniture store was not just a business, but part of his life that his parents had built up with a lot of commitment after the war. For generations, business not only offered furniture, but also personal exchange and expertise - values that were kept alive in the family. But times have changed: Corona pandemic has changed the buying behavior of customers sustainably, many migrate into online trading, while the shortage of skilled workers is under pressure.

final sale and new plans

To say goodbye to the loyal customers, the Bier furniture store starts a large -scale sales sale. Furniture, lights, carpets and decorative items are highly reduced. "We would like to hand over our inventory to our esteemed customers who appreciate our selection and personal advice," explains Friedhelm Bier. The future of the shop rooms is still uncertain because the owner is currently looking for a new tenant. However, it is clear that he will continue to operate his planning office in Spangenberg. The furniture store beer remains open until the end of the year, every Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. - one last opportunity for many to say goodbye to one piece of Rotenburg.
