Bishop Gerber opens the week of persecuted Christians in Fulda!
Fulda, Deutschland - In a moving service in the Michaelskirche in Fulda, Bishop Dr. Michael Gerber opened the week of persecuted Christians on Monday evening. Against the background of growing global tensions and conflicts, he urged to work for the human dignity and the right to self -determination of all peoples. Gerber emphasized that the message of the gospel calls us to make the connecting elements of mankind over ethnic and cultural differences.
The bishop recalled the prayer of the fishing prayer of Pope Francis, who mentioned the beatification of the Freiburg priest Max Josef Metzger and two Albanian priest on Sunday. Pope Francis hopes that the example of this priest will offer consolation for the many Christians who are persecuted because of their faith. Gerber emphasized that Metzger's resistance to the Nazi regime and his tragic fate as martyrs are an urgent call for today's faith.
