Sturm causes chaos in Hesse: trees fall, flights are redirected!

Stormy weather led to numerous fire brigade operations in Hesse on January 7, 2025. A remarkable incident occurred in particular in Weiterstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district: a ten-meter-high tree bent and fell on the roof of a residential building. One person had to be evacuated from the attic apartment to avoid possible injuries.

The fire brigades were also requested in the Rheingau-Taunus district. Here a crashed tree tore a high -voltage line to the ground that remained on the state road L3033. This road had to be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of road users. Seven flights were also redirected at Frankfurt Airport, which significantly impaired travel.

Fire brigade operations in Frankfurt

In Frankfurt, the fire brigade had a total of 15 missions in the evening. The inserts included various storm damage, including fallen fences, broken off branches, flown away construction site signs and fallen trees. According to the initial information from the police headquarters, however, no major damage was reported by the storm.
