copper theft as an increasing problem

The copper theft has now assumed epidemic proportions in Germany, which is not only shown in Plauen. A report by DW openly states that in 2022 damage of around 6.6 million euros alone was affected in 2644. These incidents led to train delays at over 700 hours.

In addition, construction sites and private buildings are also often the target of such crimes. The Hamburg copper manufacturer Aurubis has reported damage in the three -digit million range due to theft and fraud. Copper is particularly popular due to its electrical conductivity, especially for electrical devices and electric cars, which also fueled the increase in thefts.
