Alten-Buseck: Bus stops are now barrier-free!
in Alten-Buseck, a municipality in the Gießen district, there are significant improvements for local public transport (public transport) on the agenda. Mayor Michael Ranft and a delegated group of experts recently perceived an on -site visit at the modernized bus stops in Jahnstrasse. These measures that promote accessibility were already considered in 2021 and are now on the right track for implementation.
With funding from Hesse, the expansion of the stops will enable, with up to 80 percent of the costs being borne by the country. The initiatives are part of the Mobility Promotion Act and the Finance Equalization Act. These are not just cosmetic changes, but also comprehensive measures that aim to facilitate the use of public transport for all citizens, especially for people with mobility restrictions.
Details of the conversion measures
A closer look at the changes shows that both the “Gießener Straße” stop and that in Jahnstrasse from February to July this year were significantly redesigned. Citizens can now easily head for the bus, which enables efficient departure and arrival. The stop on Jahnstrasse was moved further east and the sidewalk widened to two meters. This work was carried out so that users of the stop can get in and out more easily and safely.
The stop towards the Große-Buseck also received improvements: a glazed buskeeper hall was installed here and the stop to the roadside was preferred. An additional feature is the establishment of a barrier -free pedestrian crossing that further improves access to the stop. A small detail that is still pending are the trash cans, whose installation was announced by specialist service manager Michael Thelen.
Another major progress took place on Gießener Straße, where the stop was also equipped with new ramps and tactile elements. A glazed waiting hall replaces the old in the direction of casting, while work in the intersection led to further barrier -free crossings. It can therefore be seen that the country's funding pot not only contributes to upgrading the stops, but also sets a sign of the future -oriented development of public transport.
The measures for traffic adjustment are not only functional, but also an important signal for the entire community. In the past, 20 stops have already been modernized, which proves the overall balance of a comprehensive commitment to accessibility and civil friendliness.
On this occasion, the situation comedy is also evident when a bus driver could not avoid driving past the assembled "men's team" by experts and photographers, since he probably didn't expect a passenger on board. Such humorous events loosen up the serious issues and illustrate that with all the planning and execution, the human should not be neglected.
By implementing these projects, Alten-Buseck is positioned as a pioneer for barrier-free trips in the region, which not only improves the quality of life of citizens, but also strengthens trust in local public transport. The efforts of a continuous accessibility in public transport show that the state of Hesse is on the right track here. The latest developments are still attentively accompanied by the responsible bodies so that the process is implemented both smoothly and in a targeted manner.
