Full closure at the Bargteheide motorway junction: 59 hours of diversion!

In the Bargteheide motorway junction, the A1 is closed from Friday, January 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. to Sunday, January 13, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. for a total of 59 hours. The reason for the full blocking is the demolition of an old bridge that leads the A21 over the A1. This bridge was built in 1966 and no longer fulfills the current transport requirements. Around 77,000 vehicles pass the A1 and around 28,000 vehicles the A21 at this point.

In order to maintain flowing traffic, an extensive diversion system has been set up. This system is marked accordingly: Red dots point towards Hamburg for road users from the north, green dots lead travelers from the greater Hamburg area towards Wismar and Rostock, while blue dots from the greater Hamburg area orientate to Lübeck and Fehmarn. For traffic on the A21/B404 towards the south, you can via the A1 to the Barsbüttel junction and further via the K80 to the Reinbek junction. In addition, the traffic towards Kiel is led single -lane over a makeshift bridge.

Details on the diversions and the construction work

How the NDR should calculate with longer travel times. Autobahn GmbH recommends not to avoid the necessary journeys to avoid additional loads in road traffic. Depending on the weather, the construction work could possibly be moved, especially if the frost continued.

also mentions the Autobahn.de , that the actual work on the A21 transfer structure is carried out on Friday evening to Sunday morning. The detour is therefore set up for all long -distance traffic from the north and east directions to the greater Hamburg area and towards the Baltic Sea coast to avoid overloading the regional road network.
