Bewage waste in Altenbeken: paid collection from January 2025!

Altenbeken, Deutschland - in Altenbeken, it will be more expensive to get rid of larger garbage from January 1, 2025. The municipality introduces a fee of 25 euros for the collection of bulky waste after the previously free disposal led to ever higher costs. According to Mayor Matthias Möllers and treasurer Markus Raabe, Altenbeken is the leader in the entire district of Paderborn when the bulky waste is advised. The administration points out that in the past, citizens often only put a single chair on the street, which resulted in unfair costs for everyone. The fees are introduced to cover the high disposal costs and to stimulate citizens to produce less bulky waste. As part of this measure, it is expected that the amount of the bulky waste picked up will decrease, which should ultimately also keep the garbage disposal fees stable, despite the increased corporate costs of nine percent, as from Westfalen-blatt reported.

High costs for bulky waste disposal

Not only in Altenbeken the prices increase - the costs for the disposal of bulky waste vary greatly from municipality to municipality. In many cities, fees of up to 20 euros per cubic meter are charged, while private waste disposal companies usually require at least 35 euros. These differences are due to various regulations and the frequency of the pick -up services. Some municipalities even offer free collections up to twice a year. There are also strict regulations for the size and weight of the waste, such as the maximum length of 2.50 meters and a maximum weight of 70 kilograms each. For example, it is free of charge in Hamburg to dispose of up to three electrical appliances per household and collection, while in other cities there are additional fees for special pick-up services, which Listando explains.
