Linz, Österreich - Max Niemeyer is about to appear: on 15. February celebrates the new production of the musical "Sweeney Todd" in the Linz music theater . In the main role of the murderous barber of horror, he will now captivate the audience with his eerie talents. Niemeyer, a profiled actor, has prepared intensively for this character. As he betrayed the Krone , he even had to visit a razor workshop - a real "knighthood" for a musical actor! He explained: "I have to know how to keep the razor and how the process of movements is!"

The composer Stephen Sondheim has placed high demands for this role, especially with regard to the rhythmic interaction with the orchestra. "You have to count a lot, the orchestra often has a completely different rhythm than the singers," said Niemeyer about the challenges that are waiting for him. In the staging directed by Simon Eichenberger, he brings the dark and complex figure to the stage - a mixture of horror and comedy that is supposed to captivate the audience.

The role is not only an acting challenge for Niemeyer, but also allows him to dive deeply into the abysses of human psyche. As he explains, SWEENEY is on a mission of revenge, and this gives the character a tragic dimension: "I like it on him that he wants to fight back into normality - but corpses are pouring its way." In addition to Niemeyer, Daniela Det will also be on stage as Mrs. Lovett and Christian Fröhlich as Anthony, who together bring the dark story to alive.

Max Niemeyer, who was born in Verden and was trained at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg, has already brought a lot of experience. Previously, he appeared in numerous musicals in Germany and Austria, including "Dance of the Vampires" and "The Phantom of Opera". Since the season 2023/24 he has been a member of the musical ensemble Linz and now shows how far he has already come.
