Hensel remains anti -Semitism representative: Hamburg's fight against prejudices continues!
Hamburg, Deutschland - Stefan Hensel remains Hamburg's anti -Semitism representative! The red-green Senate has decided to entrust the volunteering for another three years. In an revealing interview with NDR 90.3, Hensel expresses that it is a matter close to his heart to continue the office. Despite the challenges and hostility he experienced, he emphasizes: "It would not be a good time to stop." Especially after the shocking events on October 7, 2023, the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, he sees the need to remain active and to make a contribution to improving the situation.
youth exchange and prejudices
A central concern of Hensel is the youth exchange to reduce prejudices. He is convinced that personal encounters, such as playing football together with Jewish young people, help to overcome stereotypes. "You start to differentiate," he explains and refers to numerous studies that support this approach. Hensel demands that diversity in Hamburg also have to include Jewish life in order to promote harmonious coexistence.
Hensel is particularly concerned about the situation at Hamburg schools. Since the events in October 2023, he has not been invited to talks. "It looks a bit like schools are afraid of controversy," he says. This reluctance is serious for him, because schools should be places of dialogue where different opinions can be heard and can be discussed. Hensel advocates that Muslim and Palestinian-born pupils can also bring their perspectives to develop a better understanding of living together in the city.
The only Jewish anti -Semitism representative in Germany has a unique perspective. Just a few years ago, he discovered his Jewish origin through a DNA test and converted to give his children access to the Jewish community. He demands more educational work, especially at schools, to raise awareness of anti -Semitism and to strengthen Jewish culture in Hamburg.
