Collect students for peace: 80 years after the end of the war remind you!
In an impressive act of commemoration, the students of the elective course "Peace Formation" of the Winsener Johann-Peter-Eckermann-Realschule started their house and street collection. On the occasion of the Memorial Day, which is reminiscent of the victims of war and tyranny every year, the young people are not only committed to donations, but also intensively apart with the upcoming 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This important initiative takes place in close cooperation with the district association Lüneburg-Stade of the Volksbund Deutsche Wargräberfürsorge.
A significant commemoration: 80 years after the war
The year 2025 will mark a historical event: the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. To date, this turning point in history has lost none of its meaning. The pupils of the elective course "peace formation" take this opportunity to reflect on the devastating consequences of war and violence and to understand the responsibility for peace and reconciliation. Karl Friedrich Boese, educational officer of the Volksbund, emphasizes that such projects are crucial to sensitize young people to the importance of war graves care and the culture of remembrance.
With great commitment, the students benefit from door to door to collect donations that benefit the work of the Volksbund. Headmaster Andreas Neise emphasizes that the young people not only provide financial support, but also strengthen awareness of the historical responsibility and the importance of commemoration. Josef Nießen, Managing Director of the Volksbund district association Harburg, praises the commitment of the Eckermann Realschule and is convinced that the collection will also meet with broad support among the population this year. "Together against forgetting" - this motto is kept alive through the commitment of the students.
