Digital security for seniors: training at Eckermann-Realschule!

In the Harburg district, things come hot, because on Monday, November 11th, the Johann-Peter-Eckermann-Realschule opens its doors for an exciting project: "Safe online". From 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., senior citizens are cordially invited to explore the digital world safely and independently. This training, which is carried out in cooperation with the district senior advisory board and the nationwide initiative Digital Angel, not only promises support in dealing with smartphones and tablets, but also a lively exchange between the generations.

Roger Grewe, chairman of the district senior advisory board, praises the partnership with the school: "Here digitally unsafe people find real support!" The joy of cooperation is also noticeable at the school. Headmaster Andreas Neise emphasizes that the longstanding commitment of his teachers and students for the digital participation of older people is now recognized. The training is a real hit, because the students have selected the most pressing topics with the digital angels: from the safe handling of smartphones to the use of apps to tips for the protection of personal data.

The participants learn how to use their smartphones safely and recognize phishing emails. "We are sure that the project is building many fears of older people from digital media," explains 16-year-old Theo Tschikert, a committed student and web coach. Together with his classmates, he will support the newly founded elective course "Digital Security". The goal is clear: build trust and promote digital participation!

Another highlight of the training is the sociable atmosphere. Coffee and cake invite you to linger and promote the exchange between young and old. "It is precisely the cozy cooperation that creates a trusting atmosphere," says Theo, who has already organized several training courses. After the training, the students are on Tuesdays, November 19, 03.12. and December 17th, in open consultation hours to help the seniors with questions. Another step into the digital future, supported by the Spethmann Foundation and the Sparkasse Harburg Buxtehude with 3,000 euros for senior citizens -friendly tablets.

interested seniors can register for free training and bring their own devices on 04171/88 77 3. The open consultation in the barrier -free school library will be another place of support!
