Hamburg - A new chapter in the history of the famous Herbertstraße! With a fresh, bright red entrance gate, the eastern access to the legendary brothel alley on St. Pauli shines. The Herbertstraße, an integral part of Hamburg's nightlife for over 100 years, is known for their prostitutes who offer their services behind windows. The new gate was inaugurated on time for the weekend after the old, heavily worn out specimen was dismantled. The condition of the two goals had deteriorated dramatically through years of use and environmental influences, which made the exchange inevitable.

The old gate that was dismantled on Monday is not simply disposed of. Instead, it is exhibited in the Museum of Hamburg History as an important testimony in city history. The privacy systems, which were built by the National Socialists in 1933, are listed and are reminiscent of a dark time in which sex workers were persecuted as "female anti -social elements". A memorial stone that has been in front of Herbertstrasse since August warns of the suffering of these women.
