New auxiliary center at the main train station: Hope for drug addicts!

in the heart of Hamburg, around the main train station, homeless and drug -dependent people are a familiar sight. To help these people, the city has acquired a former office building on Repsoldstrasse. The conversion is scheduled to begin in December and the first emergency sleeping places could be available in spring 2025. However, a comprehensive concept for the six -story building is still pending, as the social area committee of the district recently stated.

Repsoldstrasse 27 is designed as a contact point for drug addicts. In the long term, not only psychiatric and medical outpatient clinics, but also advice centers, a clothing store and washrooms should be set up there. The social authority plans to bundle all offers of help in one place in order to enable those affected to have easy access. However, there will be no drinking room for alcohol consumption, since the offers are specifically geared towards the drug scene.

The redesign of the drug advice center should also have a de -escalating effect. Teams with red jackets have been active at the main train station for seven weeks and have already made around 1,000 missions. The exact coordination of the concept with residents and other offers in the area will take place in the coming year. The city of Hamburg thus sets an important sign in the fight against the drug problem in the city center.
