CDU calls for immediate measures to save Hamburg Airport!

In the shade of alarming messages from Hamburg, the CDU raises loud voices to save the airport! In view of the recent announcements by Ryanair, Eurowings and now also Condor, which are the deletion of numerous flight connections and from Hamburg, the parliamentary group is urging immediate measures. Group leader Dennis Thering scourges the high location costs of the airlines and asks the Senate to finally act. "It is time to avert the impending crash of the Hamburg airport," Thering told the "German Press Agency".

The focus is on an application that is to be advised in the citizens after the autumn holidays. "We require the SPD and the Greens to avoid increasing the airport fees and, above all, abolish air traffic tax," emphasizes Thering. The current planning to increase the fees by around nine percent from April 2025 could significantly tighten the situation. This is not only at the expense of the airlines, but also the travelers who have to fear ever higher prices!

Combating the growing competitive disadvantages

"The bad news is piling up," says Thering, referring to over 1000 deletions of flight connections that have already been announced. The location costs for Hamburg airport are among the highest in Europe, and the current number of passengers move far below the level before pandemic! The pressure on the city is growing to ensure the competitiveness of the airport and thus the economic future of Hamburg. "Now the time is to act before it is too late!" Thering concludes.
