Hundreds of IG Metall Warnstreik: wage demands on the table!

Hamburg-Bergedorf, Deutschland - A new outcry in the metal and electrical industry! Employees in northern Germany have resigned and show that they are fighting for their rights. The IG Metall coast has proclaimed the warning strikes for Tuesday and thus continues the protest actions of the past week. Hundreds of workers gathered in Hamburg-Bergedorf in front of the site of the mechanical engineering company Körber Technologies and demonstrated loudly for their demands. Airbus employees also joined the protests and made it clear that they would not put up with the status quo.

warning strikes and demands

The wave of the warning strikes continues to roll! In Hamburg, further protest actions have also been announced at Diehl Aviation. After three failed negotiation rounds between unions and employers, an agreement now seems to be in sight. IG Metall is planning a joint negotiation round of the districts of coast and Bavaria, which is to take place in Hamburg on November 11th. The union stated that the previous discussions with the employers have been more cooperative than in other tariff areas.

The IG Metall raises tremendous demands: for the 3.9 million employees, a wage increase of seven percent is required, and trainees should also receive 170 euros more remuneration. However, after nine zero months, employers offer an increase of only 1.7 percent from July 2025 and 1.9 percent from July 2026, whereby the contract term should be a whopping 27 months. A real struggle for justice and adequate payment!
