AfD meeting in Hamburg: Legal discussion and remigration debate!
Ulrich Vosgerau, a lawyer and long -time member of the CDU, appeared on February 29 in the town hall in Hamburg. The event was organized by the Hamburg AfD parliamentary group and attracted more than 500 participants. During his speech, Vosgerau expressed sharp criticism of the reporting of Correctiv and described the authors as "infamous dung birds". In addition, he collected almost 190,000 euros in donations for his legal disputes against correction. Vosgerau achieved a change of a sentence in a text about his lecture, but for a long time he did not act against the core of the corrective article, since he regarded it as interpretations and not as factual claims, such as Zeit reported.
in connection with the Potsdam meeting of AfD politicians and right-wing extremists in November 2023 there was a legal dispute that was won by Vosgerau in front of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in the second instance. Accordingly, the NDR must no longer claim that at this meeting about an "designation" of German citizens. The legal dispute refers to a wording in an NDR report, whereby Vosgerau emphasized that German citizens could not be identified, but could only be established. However, according to the Basic Law, expatriation is impossible in Germany. Instead, participants of the meeting used the spongy term "remigration", which refers to the concept, to get rid of millions of people, including German citizens, such as correctiv noted.
Litigation and political discussions
Vosgerau had the right to defend himself against untrue claims, and the incorrectly reproduced passage in the NDR report came to him. Right media use the judgment to deny the credibility to the correction research. At the Potsdam meeting it was discussed, among other things, how the "remigration" could be implemented by "non-assimilated citizens". Martin Sellner, who is considered an important voice within the scene, described "non-assimilated citizens" as the greatest "problem" for the reversal of the settlement of foreigners and spoke of a "high level of adaptation". Gerrit Huy, an AfD member of the Bundestag, mentioned a “remigration concept” proposed seven years ago and proposed to use dual citizenship in order to be able to withdraw German citizenship.
The loss of nationality is only possible if the data subject has further nationality. Vosgerau rejected the term "expatriation" in an answer to the CORRECTIV request without responding to the topic of "remigration". Both Vosgerau and other participants in the meeting have not sued the statements documented by Correctiv, while Sellner continued to repeat the demands for "remigration". Some AfD associations advertise in the election campaign with the term "remigration", while the party officially delimits itself from Sellner's concept. The Protection of the Constitution observes the AfD and the young alternative as a suspected case based on statements by Björn Höcke about "orderly returns".
