Kiel.It's a huge leap for the construction industry in Kiel! A brand new training center will be built in Kiel-Wellsee, and construction work is already in full swing. The eagerly awaited laying of the foundation stone took place this week. Between 200 and 250 young talents are trained here every year, who will shine in areas such as concrete construction, masonry and civil engineering in the future. This modern educational temple is operated by the Kiel-Eckernförde-Plön construction industry guild.
The new building is urgently needed because the old training center on Barkauer Strasse has long since become obsolete. “The equipment is no longer optimal,” explains Hans-Martin Schwalb, chairman of the training center. The longing for a future-proof building is now finally becoming a reality. An impressive building complex will be built on a massive 9,700 square meters - weldn future-oriented training awaits!
Spacious workshop areas for more practice
The plans envisage a two-story area with modern classrooms and administration. In the large, single-story workshop area there are a total of five different workshops in which the aspiring specialists can gain direct practical experience. “Here a carpenter can not only build carports, but also learn how to construct a roof,” says Schwalb.
The outside area of the site is also not neglected: streets, recreational areas and extensive green spaces are planned here. With optimal conditions right on your doorstep! Completion of the training center is scheduled for summer 2026, with a total cost of around 14 million euros, part of which will be covered by federal and state funding. Things are finally moving forward – no more room for standing still!
