Göppingen in change: 2040 the gas should finally be history!
In the district of Göppingen, a big turn in heating technology is prepared: from 2040 there should be no natural gas. The remote control system operator Terranets BW has announced that it will install a new line by 2035, which will then supply the region with hydrogen. Fossil fuels, including natural gas and oil, are to be banned in heating in order to meet the political guidelines for CO₂-neutral heating systems. This is a clear answer to the requirements of the EU Parliament, which already set the end of the fossil fuels in March 2024.
changes are before
The switch to hydrogen is an important step to reach the climate goals. From January 1, 2045, only CO₂-neutral heating systems may be operated in Germany. The pressure is high: to connect the Göppingen area, as well as the adjacent regions of Heidenheim and Ulm to the hydrogen network, Terranets BW has already taken the Initiative. The Filstal (EVF) energy supply is also active and develops strategies to adapt to these changes, such as the swp reported.
Energy transition in front of the door: The measures are necessary to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to promote sustainable heating technologies. This transformation could not only influence the way we generate heat, but also redesign the entire energy infrastructure in the district, which is of great importance in a time increasing environmental awareness. The goal is clear: by 2040 the supply of hydrogen should be guaranteed, which usher in a new era for heating technology in Germany, as well as the Stuttgarter Zeitung emphasized.
