Healthy steps: campaign City, Land, on foot starts in the Höxter district!

In the Höxter district, the "City, Land, Land" campaign will take place from November 1 to 21. This Initiative is organized by the Society for Economic Development (GFW) in cooperation with the Kreissportbund (KSB) and the traffic watch. Now interested parties have the opportunity to register for the event online and become part of this exciting challenge.

The numbers are impressive: In 2023, 574 participants took part in the campaign in almost 40 teams, which moves the organizers to call again. "Every step counts - regardless of whether when shopping, sports or in leisure time," explains district administrator Michael Stkeln and asks the citizens to actively participate.

health and security in focus

The participants can choose from different fitness levels - whether when walking, hiking or running, the main thing is that you stay active. "It's not just about ambition, but primarily about your own health," says Thorsten Schiller, managing director of the district sports association, optimistic about the possibility that many people participate.

This year the campaign is also given a stronger focus on traffic safety. "Especially in the darker season, pedestrians and cyclists are often difficult to recognize," explains Oliver Thönen from the traffic watch in the Höxter district. The traffic guard therefore recommends wearing bright and reflective clothing as well as accessories in order to increase the visibility in road traffic and to minimize the risk of accidents.

registration and participation

The registration takes place easily online via the website www.stadtlandzüfuss.de/ Registe. Here the participants can join individual teams or also appear as a single starter. There is no limitation the size of the teams; You can consist of friends, neighbors, family members or even colleagues. An important point is that the team name should contain a place name to facilitate the assignment.

In addition to registration, the public is also informed about a special bread bag about the campaign, which is available in several bakeries. These bags carry the logo of the initiative on one side and on the other an important message of the traffic watch: "Make yourself visible! Only those who are visible are safe!". This is intended to encourage citizens to become aware of the importance of visibility in road traffic.

For more information about the campaign and possible questions, the members of the climate protection team in the Höxter district, Martina Krog and Frank Segin are available on 05271/9654219 and by email to support interested citizens.

This year's round of the “City, Land, Land” campaign is a great example of how movement and security can be combined in everyday life. The Höxter district's commitment shows how important it is to be active together and at the same time ensure more security in traffic. This could inspire this competition to move and pay attention to their health while making a contribution to traffic safety at the same time.
