Englishman David Knock set a record with 47.8 kg of carp!
Nemesvita, Ungarn - David Knock, a passionate angler from England, caught an impressive fish on his one-year trip to the Euro-Aqua Lake in Nemesvita, Hungary. After 18 months of intensive planning and preparation, it was finally ready on May 14, 2025. The lake is known for its large carp, which often weighs over 30 kilograms, and Knock had been looking forward to a week full of fishing experiences with seven friends to catch large scales.
Knock and his friends initially experienced little success. After a week of intensive fishing with almost 30 liters of maggots and 10 kilograms of boilies, they were disappointed, but had already caught a 36 -kilogram carp. The fishing spot 4, where they stayed, was long for the catch sequence. Despite the setback, they remained optimistic and were ready to increase their use.
The record trap
on the crucial day, after a felt infinite fight with a large fish, Knock finally pulled an impressive scale carp with a weight of 47.8 kilograms from the water. The catch amazed him and at the same time set a new record for this special lake. Knock made it clear that the fish in front of the cradle weighed almost 105 pounds and remembered how it had fought against the animal for 20 minutes.
Despite this impressive success, the catch is not recognized as a world record. The “International Game Fish Association” excludes fish from commercial waters from its records. The official record for a shed carp is still 34.33 kilograms, which Knock hardly contains. He emphasized that he was not concerned with the title, but about the unforgettable experience of fishing with friends and the fascination of nature.
The meaning of fishing
fishing is not only one of the most popular leisure activities in Europe, but also an economically important industry. In Germany, around 6.24 million people go fishing every year, which together generates sales of around 5.2 billion euros per year. Fishing is very popular, with most anglers in the age group between 40 and 64 years old. The German waters offer a variety of fish species, including carp, which is highly valued under anglers.
Knock's extraordinary catch and the preparations he made with his friends, not only shed light on the fascination of fishing, but also the community and the pastime that are connected with it. Fishing tourism in Germany alone generates over 5 billion euros annually and shows how deeply fishing is rooted in European culture.
Although David Knock has not set an official record, his catch remains a remarkable moment that will accompany him and his friends forever.
