E-cars: High prices block the change of Germans!
E-cars: High prices block the change of Germans!
High prices for electric cars continue to represent a significant hurdle for German buyers. According to a current survey by the YouGov opinion research institute, which was carried out on behalf of the German Press Agency, 47 percent of the respondents regard the high acquisition costs as a decisive obstacle to switching to e-vehicles. People express further concerns with regard to the limited range of battery vehicles (42 percent) and less charging options (40 percent). High electricity prices only inhibit 30 percent of those surveyed, while 24 percent have concerns that the technology has not yet been mature. These results, such as OE24 , illustrate the challenges that the electrification of the car park in Germany is facing.
The survey also shows that the majority of Germans would pay less than 30,000 euros for an electric car. Only 12 percent are ready to spend more than 30,000 euros, with most of which would apparently buy up to 35,000 euros in the price range. The German automobile club ADAC found that only six electric models are offered under this price level at the end of 2024, which shows how important affordable options are for consumers. In response to this price sensitivity, Volkswagen is planning a new electrical entry model that will presumably be called ID.1 and should cost around 20,000 euros, which also confirms the results of the survey.
