CDU Neumünster: Despite the election victory and honor for 101-year-olds!

Neumünster. The CDU in Neumünster is facing a financial disaster! In 2023, the party brought in a massive minus of 36,000 euros and fully used up its reserves. The reason? An expensive move of the office and a local election campaign that loaded the cash registers with a whopping 53,000 euros! "We have never invested so much money in an election campaign," said district chairman Hauke Hansen at a dramatic party congress. But the effort was worth it: the CDU became the strongest faction and won 17 out of 23 constituencies. A little ray of hope in a sea of debt!

But the problems don't stop here! The CDU still has claims of around 17,000 euros to its own council group! "We will probably write off this money soon", treasurer Artur Wrzesinski made the members listen. The former councilor Hauke Hahn asked the explosive question: "Do we really want to write off 17,000 euros from our own faction?" The tensions in the room were tangible when Hansen said that these were services that the party did for the parliamentary group. The then group leader Gerd Kühl vehemently contradicted: "I paid all of the funds. We have not owed the party!"

The uncertainty remains. Hansen assured that the parliamentary group has spent more money in the past five years than it received from the city. "The 17,000 euros have been accumulated over time," he said. In the board elections, Hansen was re -elected with almost 76 percent of the votes, while his deputies were shiny at 92 percent. But the financial uncertainty remains an urgent topic that the party cannot ignore. Another shocking moment of the evening was the honor of the 101-year-old Herbert Möller for his 65-year membership in the CDU, who stirred the party friends with a moving speech: "We have to be ready to finally create order in the country!"
