Großaitingen celebrates 50 years of Leonhardiritt with a festive ride and service
Großaitingen is ready for the most spectacular event! The 50th Leonhardiritt, a traditional pageant, moves through the streets on Sunday, November 10th, at 10 a.m. A Highlight for the region that has been revived since 1974 under the direction of Pastor Heinrich Riedl. More than 70 riders and magnificent teams have agreed to come to move from Bahnhofstrasse to the iconic Leonhard chapel with festively decorated carriages and horses. And the best? An artistically designed harvest car from the Großaitinger Landfrauen will attract attention!
Festive accompaniment and guests of honor
The ride is accompanied by numerous organizations, including fire brigade, Singoldschützen and the Catholic Burschenverein. A musical accompaniment by the Großaitingen music band and the city music band Schwabmünchen ensures the perfect atmosphere. The festive service on the festival meadow begins at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Pastor Hubert Ratzinger, who himself takes part in the ride. "The Leonhardiritt is something special for our parish community and for me personally every year," explains Ratzinger. After the service, the participants receive the blessing of the clergy, while the teams pass majestically.
Another highlight are the impressive motif cars that imitate the three village chapels. There is a chest car for the little altar servers, while the mayors and other fees ride in honorary carriages. The streets of Großaitingen will fill up with people who are looking forward to the unique LeonhardiRitt - an event that should not be missed!
