Intelligent street lighting in Filderstadt: Light goes!
In Filderstadt, a new foot and cycle path was equipped with innovative lighting technology. The Bockweg, which runs between Sielmingen and Bernhausen and is used as a way to school in particular by children and adolescents, now receives 13 special LED lamps. These lamps switch on when people approach and follow them by shining in their direction. The path is about 400 meters long and represents an important connection.
The municipal council and the parents of the children had pushed for the need for lighting to increase security on this often frequented path. Klaus Pascher, the civil engineering manager, said that the lighting in the landscape protection area of the Bockweg is a special challenge. Due to nature conservation requirements, no lighting is actually allowed outdoors.
intelligent technology and environmental protection
like the Stuttgarter Zeitung The intelligent street lighting on the Bockweg is controlled by infrared sensors that ensure that the lamps only activate when passers -by approach. This should help save electricity and reduce light pollution. The new LED lamps are designed in such a way that they only shine down and do not emit no light rays to the sky.
The lighting is switched on between September 1 to March 31st between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The light color is 4000 Kelvin, which corresponds to the color temperature of moonlight and is considered insect -friendly. The pilot project was initiated in the municipal council at the request of the Green Group, and when the test phase is positive, the city plans to equip other foot and bike paths outdoors with similar technology.
Currently Filderstadt has 5500 fluorescent points that are gradually converted to energy -efficient LEDs. The city has been managing its lighting network since 2013 after taking it from Netze BW. The use of LEDs is more environmentally friendly because they have higher energy efficiency and produce lower light emissions than conventional lights.
