Participation urgently wanted: This is how we improve the bicycle climate in the district!

Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Deutschland - Cyclists watch out! It is the last chance to participate in the large bicycle climate test of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) until the end of November! This nationwide survey, which is carried out every two years, asks the opinion of the cyclists about the traffic situation in Germany - and the focus is particularly on the condition in villages and towns.

But participation in the communities around Osterholz is disappointing. Klaus Plump from the ADFC Osterholz pushes for more participants, because this is the only way to bring the real problems of cyclists into the town halls. So far, only the city of Osterholz-Scharmbeck has exceeded the required minimum number with 61 participants, while other municipalities such as Grasberg and Hambergen are still far behind with 8 and 5 answers. The encouragement leaves something to be desired, even though the information from the survey could support the traffic planners in the communities. In many affected smaller cities and rural regions there is an urgent need for action!

The ADFC survey contains basic questions, but this year also offers additional questions about the behavior in road traffic. Cyclists can give their assessment of how considerate the other road users are and whether the overtaking distance is correctly observed. But the watch ticks! Until this survey, a result will only be created with at least 50 questionnaires in a community. Therefore, the participation is of crucial importance!
