On the once pulsating sports facility in Papenloh in Rhynern, the mood is now a cloudy mood! The well -awaited building start for the community park is delayed and the construction machinery stands still. Originally, an exciting pumping track for mountain bikers was to be created here, but the approval process extends. City spokesman Tom Herberg confirms: "The approval process has not yet been completed." Instead, the Rhynerner have to wait for the next year to start the construction work.

In September 2022, SV Westfalia Rhynern said goodbye to the facility and moved to a new area. The plan for the community park was previously approved by the district council. However, the financial resources for the project are only planned for the year 2027/28 in a double budget. In order to start as quickly as possible, the district council decided in February to use the entire district budget of 100,000 euros for the Bürgerpark. But this sum is only enough for the first module - the pump track.

The city administration is now waiting for the approval of the district government in Arnsberg, which is responsible for the approval of immission protection law. Only when the building permit is granted can the city advertise the work. "We assume that the measure will be implemented in the coming year," explains Herberg optimistically. The preparations have already been made so that the work can start immediately after approval.

The planned pump track route will be built on the western corner of the former soccer field. Here, mountain bikers can gain speed by "pumping" - pressing the body up - without pedal. The route is paved and can therefore also be used in winter. But while the blueprints are on ice, the future of the club home remains uncertain. The city is looking for reuse, but concrete progress has so far failed to materialize. Only recently the building officially went into the possession of the city of Hamm and discussions with potential follow -up users.
