New city district Coeur: Homburg relies in the sustainable future!

On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Michael Forster and Giuseppe Ferraro, Managing Director of the Neunkircher Ferraro Group, signed an urban planning agreement on the development of the former DSD site in Homburg. The ceremony took place in the Homburg town hall and marks a significant step towards a new city district called "Coeur".

The planned area comprises around 18 hectares and until recently was an industrial wasteland. In the agreement, which includes around 820 pages, including all plants, the land use planning for the new city district is regulated, which provides for a maximum of 500 residential units as well as trade, supply, service, large -scale retail and a multifunctional meeting place.

The Ferraro Group plans to develop the new city center on over 180,000 square meters. The "Coeur" concept aims to make the city of Homburg more sustainable and more modern while living, trade, leisure, nature and urbanity combines. Mayor Michael Forster and Giuseppe Ferraro said that the new city district will connect to the old town and upgrade the city center of Homburg.

With the project, new jobs are also created. The Ferraro Group acquired the site last year and started demolition work in October 2022. The above -ground demolition work should be completed this month, followed by the renovation and disposal of contaminated sites, which will take about a year. The development plan procedure is continued in parallel, and an open position for the first construction phase was recently decided.
