Model railway magic in Salzburg: 75 years full of adventure and passion!
Gaisbergstraße 29, 5020 Salzburg, Österreich - The 75th anniversary of the first Salzburg model railway club is currently celebrated in Salzburg. The impressive 80 m² model railway system, which is located in the former signal box 7 of the ÖBB, attracts numerous visitors. Over 800 locomotives and wagons are in action there and form a detailed replica of the old town of Salzburg and the Hohensalzburg fortress. Michael Schleifenbaum, the club's chairman, emphasizes that the facility is not only an experience for children, but also attracts entire families. The facility is particularly open to visitors between the holidays from December 27th to 30th, 2024 and from January 2 to January 6, 2025. Entry costs 7 euros for adults, 5 euros for children.
Help for children in emergency
in parallel to this festival, there are also considerable social challenges in the region. According to a report, the need of over 1.3 million people in Austria is brought into focus by the Billa donation campaign "a donation that is full of". This action aims to support people who suffer from poverty by providing staple foods and hygiene products. The association “Children have a Future” is also intensively involved in the state of Salzburg to overcome financial barriers for families in need. In the past ten years, the association has made numerous children possible through targeted support, such as participation in sports camps.
The start of school is often associated with additional expenses for many families, which can be a significant burden in households with low incomes. The association offers uncomplicated help and has already supported 183 children with a total of 55,000 euros this year to finance the necessary school materials and support. These measures illustrate how important quick and effective help is in times of need, such as Alfred Pozzetti, the deputy chairman, emphasizes: "There is enough poverty right on our doorstep."
