Heidelberg shines in the Christmas magic!

From November 25th to December 22, 2024, the old town of Heidelberg is transformed into a festive winter wonderland! The anticipation is huge because the Christmas market opens its gates with a spectacular opening act on November 25th at 6 p.m. Mayor Eckart Würzner will be heralded the event on the marketplace, accompanied by the Heidelberg Christ child and a children's choir that warms up the hearts of visitors with poems and Christmas carols.

six places full of festive joy

Six charming places invite you to stroll and enjoy! On the Bismarckplatz , festively decorated huts with sweet and hearty treats are waiting. A special highlight: Children up to 6 years in a wheelchair are allowed to drive in the children's carousel for free on Mondays and Wednesdays! The Universitätsplatz offers a real gift paradise, while the Heidelberger barrel impresses on the marketplace with its 10 meters high and 120,000 liters of capacity. Here you can relax with a mulled wine in warm and enjoy the market.

The Winterwäldchen on the grain market, which is open until January 1, 2025, enchanted with over a hundred sparkling fir trees and a children's railway. And on the Karlsplatz you can turn your pirouettes on one of the most beautiful ice skating lanes in Germany by January 6, 2025 - a romantic experience under the Heidelberg Castle!

Special campaign days such as the "Student Day" and the "Family and Senior Day" offer numerous benefits. On December 2, the pink Monday is celebrated, a colorful event for the Queere Community, which ensures a good mood with Djane Simoné and Travestie artist Trude Trash. Aidshilfe Heidelberg e.V. is also represented with a stand to draw attention to important topics.
