Düsseldorf Carnival: 200 years of celebrations in the old town!

The 200th anniversary of the Düsseldorf Carnival will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Düsseldorf. The celebrations begin at 12:11 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. and take place at eleven different locations in the city. This anniversary is reminiscent of the first carnival parade, which was carried out in Düsseldorf two centuries ago.

The event includes a large open-air party in the old town of Düsseldorf, which takes place for the first time in this form. A reception in the town hall is organized by Mayor Stephan Keller and Lothar Hörnig, President of the Düsseldorfer Carneval e.V.. This reception starts at 12 p.m. in the Jan-Wellem Hall of the Düsseldorf town hall and is an opportunity for invited guests to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

diverse programs and expected participants

After the reception, those present have the opportunity to visit the bivouacs in the old town, which serve as the central point of contact during the anniversary. A varied program is offered on various stages that includes appearances by soloists, bands and dance guard. Around 1,500 guests from clubs and many thousands of citizens from Düsseldorf and the surrounding area are expected, whereby the exact number of visitors is difficult to estimate.
