Brand in Woltersdorf: Battery explosion violates three people!

In the night of January 12, 2025, a single-family house in Woltersdorf, district of Oder-Spree, was hit by a fire caused by a battery of an electric bicycle. Three people, including a toddler, suffered minor injuries and had to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The incident began when a resident noticed the fire in the basement and tried to carry the burning battery outside. At this point, however, the room had already started flames. The fire brigade, which was on site promptly, was able to save three residents from the building and finally extinguish the fire.

The fire caused an estimated damage of around 200,000 euros. The affected house is currently not habitable. According to reports, the cause of the fire was clearly identified, and it is pointed out that a correction was necessary regarding the location of the incident, since it took place in Woltersdorf and not in the Uckermark.
