Jüterbog's mayor Raue joins the AfD - a historic step!

Berlin/Jüterbog.In a shocking turn of events, the non-party mayor of Jüterbog, Arne Raue, has joined the AfD! He will thus become the first full-time mayor with an AfD party ticket in Brandenburg, provided no objection is lodged within a period of one month. Raue submitted his membership application last week, and the Teltow-Fläming district association accepted him unanimously. A move that could turn the political landscape in the region upside down!

Raue, who has been in office since 2011, has never made a secret of his sympathy for the AfD. “I have never made a secret of the fact that I agree with the content of the AfD,” he told the German Press Agency. His closeness to the party had long been known, as the AfD held several party conferences in Jüterbog at which Raue gave greetings. With his decision, he could not only influence the political dynamics in Jüterbog, but also have ambitions to run for the Bundestag, as SPD state parliament member Erik Stohn suspects.

AfD mayor in Brandenburg – a novelty!

The AfD has already gained a foothold in other eastern German states. Last year, Robert Sesselmann was elected Germany's first AfD district administrator in Sonneberg, and Hannes Loth became the first full-time AfD mayor in Raguhn-Jeßnitz. Raue could now take on the first municipal leadership position in Brandenburg, which would further strengthen the AfD. AfD leader Alice Weidel was enthusiastic about Raue's move and emphasized that he brings with him "great expertise and social skills".

The reactions to Raue's decision are mixed, but one thing is clear: the political stage in Jüterbog will change dramatically with this step. Raue himself appears unimpressed by possible protests and is ready to take on the challenges. “I’m tired of this firewall nonsense,” said Raue. A new chapter in Brandenburg politics has begun!
