Glass fiber revolution: parking and Prignitz receive new network nodes!
In an exciting step towards the digital future, Wemacom Broadband has put two central network nodes for fiber optic expansion into operation! These groundbreaking facilities, a core pop in parking and another hub in the Prignitz district, are now active and ready to raise the digital infrastructure to a new level. Around 100 households were connected to testing the technical processes!
The new network hubs act as decisive technical interfaces between the national backbone network and the regional distribution networks, which are intended to supply households and companies with super fast internet. "Only if the core pops and the downstream smaller network hubs are ready for operation, the connected households can also be supplied," emphasizes Volker Buck, Managing Director of Wemacom. During this test phase, important technical scenarios such as stress and fault tests are carried out to ensure that everything works smoothly before the network is released for everyone.
funding program for digital connection
The network hub in Parkentin is just one of a total of 21 planned nodes in the Rostock district. This initiative is part of an extensive funding program that is financially supported by both the federal government and by the countries of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg. The goal? Under -seeded areas in the Rostock and Prignitz counties to be equipped with the latest fiber optic connections! The work on the feeder lines that connect the individual households to the network run in parallel and promise an early digital revolution for the region.
