Michendorf plans to increase trade tax: household in the crisis!

Michendorf. In a dramatic step to save the municipal finance, Michendorf plans to increase the trade tax! The lifting rate is said to increase from 325 to 340, which could rinse an additional 150,000 euros in the funds every year. But that's not all: for the years 2025 and 2026, community budgets are to be completely exposed and the funds for business development are deleted. A brave but risky plan to combat a deficit of seven million euros, which has now shrunk to just 124,000 euros!

The treasurer Kristin Lachmann has set up a double budget for 2025 and 2026, in which she checked numerous items for her necessity. But the municipality faces a financial challenge: In order to manage planned investments, loans of a total of 14 million euros must be taken for the coming years. The funds flow mainly into three major projects: the new school campus in Michendorf, the sports hall in Wilhelmshorst and the fire department equipment house in pieces. The municipality invests a total of around 30 million euros in the school campus, while the sports hall will cost 8.7 million euros.

The situation in the daycare centers is also tense: the occupancy is only between 60 and 80 percent, which is due to falling births. The community centers fight with deficits because the expenses exceed the income. The treasurer emphasizes that the municipal council urgently has to discuss the future use of the centers. Time is forces: the budget must be decided by November 19, otherwise the provisional housekeeping, which makes the implementation of voluntary services impossible. Mayor Claudia Nowka warns: "That means no cultural, no sports funding and no celebrations!"
