Sustainable tourism: make Brandenburg's regions strong together!

A new network for the promotion of sustainable tourism offers was launched by three tourism organizations in Brandenburg: TMU Tourismus Marketing Uckermark GmbH, the Seenland Oder-Spree e.V., as well as the Tourismus Association Fläming e.V. The initiative is called "Sustainable Destinations Brandenburg" and The aim of increasing sustainability in regional tourism in order to strengthen the future viability of the affected areas.

This fundamental agreement was ceremoniously announced on October 15th in the Panorama Seeresort on Lake Oberuckersee. At this meeting, the district administrators of the districts involved were also present, which, through their presence, expressed their support for this important project. This emphasizes the relevance of sustainable tourism practices in Brandenburg, as these should be of long -term benefits for both visitors and the locals.

Challenges in tourism

One of the central challenges that this new collaboration has tackled is the adaptation to the changes that climate change brings with it. Allianz develops an expert opinion that analyzes the effects of climate change on tourism in Brandenburg. The aim is to find out how tourist offers can be made more sustainable, taking into account the environment, without overlooking the existing natural resources.

Sustainability is not only a keyword in this context-it includes responsibility for careful handling of natural resources, taking into account the ecological and social issues and creating fair working conditions for employees in the hospitality industry. The actors agree that the development of sustainable solutions not only increase the attractiveness of the travel destinations, but also improve the quality of life of the residents.

Cooperation for Innovation

Another important aspect of the cooperation is the exchange of knowledge between different tourist actors. The aim is to network relevant stakeholders so that experiences and knowledge can be shared. Common dialogue formats and market research activities are planned for this.

In addition to the transfer of knowledge, the focus is also on product development. An initiative to extend the tourist season and the creation of uniform quality standards are among the planned projects. Offers such as hiking tours should also be designed more appealing for younger target groups in order to address a broader audience.

In addition to these initiatives, marketing is also bundled in this new alliance. Through joint appearances at trade fairs, coordinated press work and through social media campaigns, the organizations involved want to create synergies and optimally use their resources. This strategic planning will not only relieve the employees, but also significantly improve the range and the success of the tourist offers.

With the establishment of this network, the three tourism organizations make a strong sign of the sustainable development of tourism in Brandenburg, and plan to actively contribute to strengthening their regions. The joint efforts could serve as a model for similar initiatives in other federal states that also want to focus on sustainable tourism models.
