Oberhavel. An exciting duel is paving! The member of the Bundestag Ariane Fäscher from Hohen Neuendorf suddenly faces serious competition. After three years in the Bundestag, the upcoming election on February 23 will be anything but a walk for the 56-year-old. Her challenger, 43-year-old Lieven Markov from Hennigsdorf, was nominated on October 24 by his local association as a candidate for the direct mandate in constituency 58. Markov, a Bundeswehr soldier and two -time family man, not only brings military experience, but also a clear vision for the SPD.

"For me, this is honor and order at the same time," explains Markov, who campaigns for social democratic values. Fäscher, on the other hand, was unanimously nominated by the Oranienburg and Hohen Neuendorf local associations, but these recommendations are only the beginning. The final decision was made on December 5 at an SPD delegate conference, in which representatives from 19 local associations vote. The competition is therefore great and faers have to justify their previous work.

Markov has clear priorities: business, security and social issues. It calls for stronger promotion of digital infrastructure in rural areas and wants to relieve small and medium -sized companies. Ariane Fäscher, on the other hand, is concerned about the current political situation and the challenges that can still be mastered. "There is a lot on the track that is not good for people and the country," she says. Her experiences in various committees of the Bundestag and her studies in journalism and politics could help her assert herself in this tough competition. But time is pushing, and the voters are excited to see who is in the end!
