Young mountaineers missed: High mouth is becoming a fatal trap!

In Tyrol, the rescue workers desperately look for a 21-year-old mountaineer from Brandenburg, who has been missing since he was climbed by the Hohen mouth eastern summit. The search has so far been extremely difficult, and on Friday the emergency services had to stop their efforts due to adverse weather conditions.

The young man had started his ascent with a friend from the parking lot of the Rauthhütte in Telfs on Thursday. But while the two separated due to set snow at around 2 p.m., one of them decided to reverse. The 21-year-old continued his way and reached the summit around 3:40 p.m. A few minutes later, he sent a worrying voice message to his friend with the request to make an emergency call. It was the beginning of a dramatic rescue mission that was coordinated by the region's mountain rescue workers.

rescue use under difficult conditions

The mountain rescue Telfs promptly replied to the emergency call. During the telephone contact, the missing person informed the emergency services that he had slipped around 100 meters and might have been injured. In view of the adverse weather conditions, which made the use of a rescue helicopter impossible, 27 members of the mountain rescue decided to search the area in more detail.

Despite intensive searches, the 21-year-old could not be found. The mountain rescue was looking for around 2500 meters in the surrounding area and combed the realm into the dark. However, the snow -capped slopes and poor visibility led to the fact that the search finally had to be stopped around 9 p.m. The use of a special search helicopter that is equipped with thermal imaging technology was also not possible due to the unfavorable conditions.

This tragic situation raises questions about the security of mountaineering, especially in the colder season, if the weather can quickly turn. Another aspect that should not be disregarded is the importance of communication between mountaineers and the mountain rescue.

The family of the missing mountaineer was informed and is under great pressure because the time speaks against the rescue. While the authorities continue to endeavor to collect information and make possible progress, the uncertainty remains overwhelming for everyone involved.

The next steps of the rescue operation will depend on the conditions on site. The mountain rescue plans to continue their efforts in the coming days as soon as it allows the weather. The hope of finding the young man alive remains, even if the challenges are enormous.
