Mayor election in Zehdenick: AfD candidate is certain! Who follows?

Zehdenick. On February 9, 2025, the city of Zehdenick will decide who can take over the helm. Election manager André Ullmann published the good news in the October-Amtsblatt. And then it comes to the first hit: a possible runoff selection date has already been set on March 2, 2025! All parties and groups have to submit their election proposals by December 5, 2024 at the latest, and so far only the AfD is in the starting line -up!

At the general meeting on Friday (October 25th), 59-year-old René Stadtkewitz was appointed the only candidate of the AfD-and with a unanimous result! Stadtkewitz, who only moved to Zehdenick with his family in early 2023 and only became a member of the AfD in January this year, has already been voted to the city council. But who is this man? From the CDU roots to a nationally known political figure! Stadtkewitz was active in the CDU from 1995 to 2009 and was also the federal chairman of the small party "Die Freiheit", founded in 2010, before it was assigned to right -wing populism by most observers.

CDU Plant its own candidates

The CDU also plans to send your own candidate into the race! Manuela Ludwig, the chairwoman of the CDU city association, wants to take a nomination decision on November 4, but whoever it will be a well-kept secret remains. The rumor that several applicants could throw themselves into play from their own ranks maintains the tension!

What about the acting mayor Marco Kalmutzke? He keeps himself covered and does not think about commenting. Kalmutzke takes over the business after the resignation of Lucas Halle (SPD), who has resigned for health reasons. Halle, who was once elected as the youngest full -time mayor in Germany at the age of only 24, leaves a large gap and now does not use Ruhgelder. Does the SPD come around the corner with its own candidate? At the moment the answer is: not yet! But who knows, maybe there is a surprise shortly before the deadline!
