Huge rescue on Lake Senftenberger: Santa Barbara successfully towed!

Senftenberg, Deutschland - A dramatic use of the Senftenberg Water Wacht caused excitement at Lake Senftenberger at the weekend! The largest passenger ship, the 29 meter long and 65 tons of “Santa Barbara”, suffered a gearbox damage and was unable to reach its winter base. The shipowner had no choice but to ask the water guard for help.

The situation required extraordinary measures! Due to the enormous size of the ship, the rapid deployment groups were also mobilized from the districts of Elbe-Elster and Oberspreewald-Lausitz. With two powerful multi -purpose boats, each equipped with 160 hp, the "Santa Barbara" was taken into the middle and towed safely. A third boat was used to slow down the entire towing association and to ensure safety during the action.

successful cooperation in disaster protection

For the disaster protection associations, this was not only a first joint commitment, but also a valuable exercise! The water guard emphasized that this technical assistance is ideal preparation for future missions and shows the wide range of tasks of these units impressively. The aid campaign was successfully completed within a few hours, and the "Santa Barbara" could certainly be brought to its destination.
