At the last meeting of the city council in Delmenhorst, a new decision was made, which will significantly change the property tax burden for citizens. From January 1, 2025, the lifting rates for property tax A- for agricultural and forestry companies- increase from 380 to 710 percent. The FDP calls for an automatic recalculation of the lifting rates, it should be found that the estimates were not correct or that the tax revenue in 2025 is higher than expected. Despite the raising of the lifting rates, the city administration can be heard that no additional income can be expected. The FDP district chairwoman advises owners who have already received property tax notices that the new amounts should appear too high compared to the old ones.
It is important to note that property owners who have not yet received a new property tax notice must continue to make advance payments based on the old decision. This regulation is explained in the tax office Brandenburg and applies until a new decision. The advance payments that are due quarterly are based on the last annual tax and serve to ensure constant tax revenue. An adjustment of the amount of these advance payments can only be made by a new decision, i.e. establish a legal basis for future tax liability.
