Safe through the darkness: Cottbus control for better visibility
Safe through the darkness: Cottbus control for better visibility
in Cottbus, on Thursday morning, the police and regulatory office carried out a spectacular traffic control in Bahnhofstrasse! The officers focused on the lighting of cars, bicycles and e-scooters. Because one thing is clear: light is the key to traffic safety, especially in the dark season!
The control brought some surprises: four cyclists, an e-scooter user and two drivers had to be pointed out to serious defects. The main problem was missing or defective lighting! But the emergency services were not only looking for violations. They gave valuable tips on how road users can improve their lighting in order to be better seen. Manuel Helbig, the head of department for order and security, emphasized the importance of this action: "We would like to sensitize people to the importance of functioning lighting in order to minimize the risk of accidents."
reward for exemplary behavior
A gratifying result: The majority of road users were in control without complaints! In recognition of their responsible behavior, they received small gifts such as parking discs, ice scrapers or practical rain hoods for the bicycle helmet. These little attentions should not only appreciate the good practice, but also create an incentive to keep an eye on your own traffic safety.
In the dark season, if the visibility is often bad, functioning lighting is essential to avoid accidents. With this control, the police and regulatory office want to raise awareness of their own visibility and put the importance of intact lighting in the foreground. An important step for the safety of all road users!
