Young talents honored: gold for rock’n’roll and bike races in Wernberg!

On March 26, 2025, a festive act was held in the Wernberg municipal council to honor two outstanding sporting talents. Mayor Doris Liposchek presented the only 12-year-old Rock’n’Roll dancer Isabella Franc and the 17-year-old cyclist Heimo Fugger Goldbarren as recognition for her impressive achievements. Isabella, which dances for the "Jailhouse Rock’n’Roll Club" in Villach, won the Austrian championship title in the "Children" category in autumn 2023. She showed her remarkable talent again in autumn 2024 when she took third place in the “Juveniles” starting class at the Austrian Championships in Weiz, and this against significantly older competitors. Mayor Liposchek praised the extraordinary commitment and the skills of the young dancer.

Heimo Fugger, who drives for the KAC cycling club and the Austrian national team, collected three times last year. At the European railway bike championships in Cottbus, he became Vice European champion in the "Eliminator" discipline and won the title of European champion in the point render. At the international level, he crowned his successes with the Vice World Championship title in the "Scratch" discipline during the world championships in Luoyang, China. The mayor emphasized that Fugger was also recognized by the sports press as the "promoted in 2024", which further underlines his reputation as an emerging talent in the cycling scene.

strong support from the community

At the honor, many personalities were present, including Vice Mayor Christian Mitterböck, Mayor Marlene Rogi, community board member Adam Müller and head of office Anja Schweda, who also spoke out for the sporting performance of the two young athletes. Such occasions promote the recognition of talents in sports and inspire others to pursue their goals.
