Memory of the Reichspogromnacht: Together against anti -Semitism!

Ritterstraße 92, 14770 Brandenburg an der Havel, Deutschland - On November 6, 2024, a significant commemoration of the Reichspogromnacht of November 9, 1938 will take place in Brandenburg an der Havel. This night stands for the cruel massacre that Jewish citizens experienced all over Germany - a dark chapter in history that must never be forgotten. At 5:00 p.m., the participants gather in the Ritterstraße 92 and to commemorate the victim. The event is opened by Mayor Steffen Scheller and leads through the city to the former synagogue.

"We not only want to recall the historical events, but also talk about the responsibility that we are wearing as a society today," explains the preparatory group of the pogrom commemoration, which the alliance together in Brandenburg, the Evangelical Church, the Jusos Brandenburg on the Havel and the city museum. Musical performances, prayers and personal contributions will accompany the memory and touch the hearts of those present.

A call to solidarity

"Let us put a sign of solidarity and memory together. Everyone is invited to take part in this important day - whether young or old, religious or not. Together we can keep the memory and stand up for a society in which all people can live in dignity and peace," said the hazard call of the preparatory group. In order to take into account the wishes of the Jewish community, the commemoration of November 6 was brought forward, since November 9th falls on the Sabbath this year. On November 9th everyone is invited to put a light in the window to set a sign of commemoration.

The event is part of a three -part series entitled "Jewish Kaleidoscope". On November 5, 2024, a memory walk will take place, which deals with the stumbling blocks of the Lesser family. On November 7, 2024, a round of talks will be offered in the Gothic house with the topic "Remember and vigilant - voices against anti -Semitism and for peace", where well -known speakers have their say.
