Christmas magic in Bernau: markets, lights and festive atmosphere!
Bernau, Deutschland - The anticipation for Christmas in Bernau is immeasurable! On December 6th, the Christmas market opens its doors and promises a festival of the senses. The festive atmosphere is reinforced by the Christmas tree on the market square and the bright Christmas lighting, which will be switched on on November 25th. The ice rink on the market square is also opened on the same day and ensures winter fun.
The Christmas market extends over several streets, including the Bürgermerstraße and Brauerstrasse, and offers a varied program for all visitors. A special highlight is the medieval art market, which takes place on the second weekend in Advent at the St. Marienkirche. The city has also planned a mobile cultural program that will enrich the Advent season in Bernau.
Festive opening with music and magic
The ceremonial opening of the Christmas market is celebrated by Mayor André Stahl (left) and Santa Claus, accompanied by two angels. The youth choir of the Barnim music school will put visitors in the right mood with festive Christmas carols. The opening will take place on St. Nicholas Day at 3 p.m. and the city hopes for numerous visitors who enjoy the Christmas mood together.
After the opening, the Bernauer can immerse themselves in the Christmas sea of lights by December 15th. The market is open daily from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays even until 9 p.m. In order to make the Christmas market smoothly, extensive traffic closures for drivers will be set up in the city center from December 2. Residents are asked to park their vehicles outside the affected areas. In addition, the weekly market is moved to the station forecourt to facilitate purchasing during the festive time.
