Fascination football: 10,000 euros for the children's hospice in Berlin!
In Bernau, around 500 visitors experienced an exciting event on Saturday, October 5: the 3rd benefit football tournament of the volunteer fire brigades. This event was organized by the volunteer fire brigade of the city of Bernau in cooperation with the EPCU European Police Car Unit e.V. and offered exciting insights into the diverse work of the fire brigade in addition to gripping football games.
From noon to the evening, a total of 14 teams competed against each other to win the coveted challenge cup. After intensive games, the team from Zerpenschleuse finally prevailed and took home the victory. The team from Bernau was able to secure second place again, and for the third time in a row.

The organizers were extremely satisfied with the course of the event. "The joy of the overwhelming success of the event is huge," said Steffi Richter from the organization team. "There was a good atmosphere in the hall, there were fair games to see, the raffle was very popular and the families had fun." She added that not all incoming sponsorship money has not yet been counted, but one assumes a total proceeds of around 10,000 euros. Compared to previous years, this is a significant increase - last year 5,200 euros and 3,800 euros were achieved two years ago.
The proceeds go to the Sonnenhof children's hospice in Berlin. This facility offers support for families whose children suffer from a life -shortening disease. In addition to medical and psychological care, the hospice also organizes excursions for healthy siblings and gives the parents the opportunity to take a break.
The combination of sporty competition and charity made the event a special experience. Not only the players and organizers, but also numerous sponsors who actively support the benefit event were involved. The formats such as the raffle also ensured that the mood among the visitors was at the peak. The positive feedback from the participants and the organizers show that the benefit football tournament is an important platform for community commitment and support from the needy.
With the money collected, the families concerned can in future enable the affected families in the children's hospice in the Sonnenhof children's hospice that go beyond medical care. The combination of sport, community and solidarity will certainly continue in the coming years and offers the opportunity to achieve even more for families who need support in difficult situations.
