Towing in Berlin and Brandenburg: Consumer prices rise again!

Berlin, Deutschland - In October 2024, consumer prices in Berlin and Brandenburg explode! According to the Office for Statistics Berlin-Brandenburg, prices in Berlin increase by 1.4 % and in Brandenburg by 1.8 % compared to the previous year. These alarming numbers show that the inflation in both federal states is on the rise again!

The price increases compared to the previous month of September 2024 cannot be overlooked: in Berlin the prices climb by 0.4 %, while Brandenburg follows 0.3 %. The increased costs for light heating oil and fuels are primarily responsible for these developments. But not everything is bad: there were declines that provide some relief for package tours and accommodation services.

Agency of energy prices brakes the inflation

Surprisingly, energy prices show a decline: in Berlin they dropped by 11.6 % and 4.4 % in Brandenburg compared to October 2023. Without the energy prices, the inflation in Berlin was 2.9 % and 2.4 % in Brandenburg. But the above -average price increases cannot be ignored! Food, non -alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, tobacco products as well as services in the area of accommodation and gastronomy have become more expensive. The fees for childcare in daycare centers and secondary schools are particularly affected.

The prices for food have also increased: 2.3 % in Berlin and 2.2 % in Brandenburg. These developments let the alarm bells ring! Citizens have to prepare for increasing living costs, while the prices for basic goods and services continue to attract.
