At 4:25 p.m., a patrol on Zeppelinstrasse found by laser measurements that the 36-year-old driver was traveling in a clear 50s zone with a whopping 95 km/h. The police were able to stop the racer on Negrillstrasse, where the driver's license was immediately withdrawn and the onward journey was prohibited. According to the police report, his 56-year-old passenger, also from Wels-Land, received his car key because the driver could no longer trust her.
warning strikes in public transport in Germany
Meanwhile, there are massive restrictions in public transport in Germany. The Verdi union has proclaimed warning strikes in around 80 cities for this Friday to put pressure on employers in the collective bargaining. Almost all federal states are affected, with a total of around 90,000 local public transport employees take part in the work. The focus of the demands includes shortened working hours, additional rest periods and improved vacation standards. In Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia, considerable restrictions are expected, since not only public transport companies, but also private providers are included in the strike, such as rnd.de reported.
In cities such as Hamburg, Hanover and Dresden, commuters and travelers have to expect delays and even total failures in bus and rail traffic. The capital Berlin in particular is affected, where the strike measures begin in the early morning and the public transport is impaired until late in the morning. These warning strikes underline the increasing tensions between the workers of public transport and their employers, which has been reinforced by the failed negotiations in the past few weeks.
