With ideas for a lively Mariendorf: neighborhood work started!
In the heart of Mariendorf, an exciting initiative to promote neighborhood cohesion has developed since September 2024. The aim of the project, which focuses on mobile neighborhood work, aims to accept the concerns of the residents and to develop targeted measures for 2025. Among other things, a variety of encounters, such as neighborhood festivals and the establishment of information pillars to strengthen the coexistence in the community, are planned
The district mayor Jörn Oltmann emphasized the importance of meeting points that counteract the loneliness: "The creation of occasions and places of encounter and exchange is a central task." These measures are designed to promote social cohesion and to strengthen civic engagement.
regular presence in the neighborhood
In order to intensify contact with the residents, the project team is actively present in central locations in Mariendorf. For example, the team can be found on Tuesdays between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in front of or in the Edeka Yaras and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in front of HIT Ullrich on the Mariendorfer Damm. Through personal conversations and interactions with the residents, an open exchange about their needs and wishes should be made possible.
The organizational implementation of the project takes place by the neighborhood and self-help center in the UFA-Fabrik e.V. (NUSZ), in close cooperation with the regional coordination Mariendorf. It is also operated in coordination with various, existing programs to promote neighborhoods, such as "Berlin develops new neighborhoods (Benn)" and the "Mobile District Work Mariendorf-Ost". This multi -layered cooperation underlines the relevance and responsibility towards the local communities and their development.
The project is financially supported by the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living As part of the Fein-Pilot projects program, which aims to promote voluntary engagement in neighborhoods. The commitment at the urban level is a further confirmation of the efforts to promote and improve the living together in urban spaces.
