Tanzhaus feeling in the library: Experience Durrbanda Live!
in Berlin awaits visitors to the Ingeborg Drewitz library a very special event. On October 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., the Durrbanda group will traditionally bring Hungarian dance culture into the library. This evening promises not only musical entertainment, but also an interactive introduction to the dance traditions of Hungary and Romania.
The history of the dance house, as the Hungarian “Táncház” is called, goes back to the 1970s. At that time, a committed group of idealists founded the dance house movement, inspired by the deeply rooted music and dance traditions of the rural population. In villages, people have always gathered for common dances accompanied by live music. As a result, the musicians play on a violin, a special viola with three strings and a three -string double bass. For the young generation in the cities, dancing in the dance house is something like Hungarian rock’n’roll - lively, moving and community.
an interactive experience in the library
Durrbanda will not only present this music, but also show the corresponding dance steps, so that the participants have the opportunity to become active themselves. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the joy of dancing and establish a deeper connection to the Hungarian culture. The dance teachers will explain the steps in an understandable way, so that inexperienced dancers can quickly participate.
This event offers open access to part of the Hungarian folklore, which is often pushed into the background in the fast -moving modern world. Traditional dancing combines generations and promotes understanding of cultural roots. In today's globalized society it is more important than ever to keep such cultural practices alive.
Entry to this event is free, but registration is required. Interested parties can register by phone at the number 90 299 2410 or by email to event-bibliothek@ba-sz.berlin.de. Further information on the event is also provided. The meeting point is the Ingeborg Drewitz Library, located at Grunewaldstraße 3 in Berlin-Steglitz.
With such initiatives, the library becomes a living place of culture and exchange. The fusion of tradition and community is the focus of this event, which promises a wonderful social experience for all ages. Whether dance -loving or curious visitors - everyone is welcome to immerse yourself in the world of the Hungarian dance house and enjoy the stirring music of the Durrbanda.
